Amateurs Ryan DeCook and Aracelly Clouse take age-group titles
This year's race was exceptionally challenging due to the high winds and cold temperatures at the race start. Athletes were welcomed with 55 degree waters, 2-3 foot chop and air temperature in the low 40's. Coming out of the water in 6th position and 4 minutes down on Barb Lindquist, Whitmore quickly got to work with a punishing bike climb. She worked her way to second place by the end of the climb but was still 2 minutes down on Lindquist. With McQuaid in tow, Whitmore flew by Lindquist and entered T2 in first position. Using her off-road running skill Whitmore pulled away from the field and held of McQuaid to claim her 4th US National Championship Title. "The new Multi-V is awesome. I feel much more alert and awake throughout the day and I definitely feel a difference in my training and recovery".

In the Amateur division, grass-roots sponsored athletes Aracelly Clouse and Ryan DeCook both took top honors in their age group and brought home National Titles.
